The "Zeus", owned by Brown Marine Service, Inc., was the first towboat to navigate the Appalachicola River when it was first opened to barge traffic in the early 1960's. In this picture the "Zeus" is alongside the tank barge "Brown 220", a 20,000 barrel oil barge that carried gasoline and diesel to a terminal in Columbus, Ga. The Corps. of Engineers' steam snagboat "Montgomery" is in the background.
